Maria Garcia Estrada Pro Am Tournament

The cream of Spanish golf will be gathering at Abama Golf on 13 and 14 January for the fourth annual Pro Am Memorial Maria Garcia Estrada. The tournament is a tribute and a fundraiser for the popular Santa Cruz born golfer who died from Sarcoma cancer in September 2005. It’s a practical way of honouring her memory as the Maria Garcia Estrada Foundation raises funds for research and an eventual cure for this aggressive form of cancer that took her life at the age of 24.
This years tournament will be played in scramble form with 40 teams of one professional and three amateurs. It will be a great chance for keen amateur players to share the course with big names like Sergio García, Gonzalo Fernández Castaño Álvaro Quirós, Pablo Larrazábal, José Manuel Lara, Luis Claverie, José María Cañizares, Juan Quirós, Marta Prieto and Paula Martí.
There will be a raffle and other fund raising events over the weekend and funds raised will be going to University of Salamanca (FICUS) and at Duke University in the US where María studied before she died of sarcoma cancer in 2005.
