Abama Golf Offers The Latest Challenge

One of the great things about the Tenerife & La Gomera golf circuit, now in its fourth season, is the chance to experience all the major courses in Tenerife and to appreciate their diversity. The sixth round on 21 August means that all roads lead to Abama Golf on the sedate west coast in Guia de Isora.
The Dave Thomas designed layout is a visual treat with views from its clifftop setting across to La Gomera, the 22 lakes and 25,000 palm trees make it a restful and pleasing place to test yourself. For inexperienced golfers the wide tees are a great help and the large greens make sure you get plenty of putting practice.
The latest round of the circuit will be as keenly contested as ever and with facillities second to none, Abama is always a welcoming place to boost the golfing skills.

La Gomera Welcomes All To Tecina Golf

How many golfers have travelled across the sea to play a game and still only been 40 minutes from home. Tecina Golf in La Gomera was the latest host for the 4th annual Tenerife and La Gomera golf circuit. This fifth round attracted 130 players via the comfort of the Fred Olsen Express ferry.
The tournament took place on Saturday 7th August but with Hotel Jardin Tecina serving up some great deals, many players and family chose to stay over in the four star cliff top hotel overlooking Playa de Santiago.
There was no shortage of sponsors , Fred Olsen and Hotel Jardin Tecina led the parade of supportive business’s. A Day Of Many Winners
A great days play with amazing views across to Mount Teide on Tenerife was followed by the prize giving ceremony. The ball closest to the flag in the No. 2 hole went to Alexander Aldana with 121 cm. Senior prize winner was José Castella who lifted the coveted prize wheel and scratch winner was Angel Gonzalez Rodriguez with 31 points.The ladies longest drive on the 17th hole was scooped by Loli Sebares and the gentlemens prize went to Epifanio Hernandez Delgado

Staying Power The Key In Golf Costa Adeje

It was a long hot day of golfing action as the Fourth annual Tenerife-La Gomera golf circuit came to Golf Costa Adeje. Although just a few days after the Simply Red concert was staged at the course, the greens and fairways were in top condition for the 156 players.

As always Tenerife business’s did the players proud led by Carloi Health Club and Sheraton La Caleta Resort & Spa, Sponsor of the day. The quality of play was very high and competition for the prizes was keen. The ball closest to the flag in the No. 2 hole for Alexander Aldana was 132 cm. The award for best senior went to Thomas Boehm and Scratch prize was won by Mike McCarthy with 34 points.The ladies longest drive on the 13th hole went to Marlene Bananier and the mens honour went to Michael McCarthy

Trish Johnson Restores English Pride At Tenerife Ladies Open

She’s English, she’s a sporting star, and she is in hot form. Trish Johnson stormed in to win the 2010 Tenerife Ladies Open in Buenavista, to add to her recent runners up spot in the Portugal Open. The Bristol veteran of 23 years on the circuit led going into the final day thanks to a terrific round of 66 on day three. French player Virginie Lagoutte-Clement was runner up and there was another tricolour to wave with Anne-Lise Caudal coming third.
The four day event was another great shop window for Tenerife with this glimpse of the rural north going out to around 120 countries. The weather was perfect most of the time with a nice mix of sun and breeze and the cloud rolling in off the Teno mountain range for added effect from time to time.

Circuit Moves On To Golf Las Americas

The players have just got their breath back after a thrilling launch tournament of the Tenerife & La Gomera Golf Circuit 2010, now it’s all eyes on Golf Las Americas on Saturday 19 June.

The first round attracted 170 enthusiasts and a similar figure is expected for the latest instalment. Even in these hard times local business’s have responded well to back the fourth year of the growing multi national circuit. This round Gomasper will head the impressive list of big name sponsors.

Buenavista Golf Launches 2010 Tenerife & La Gomera circuit

Strong winds brought out strong skillful players as the 4th Annual Golf Circuit of Tenerife and La Gomera set a high standard at Buenavista Golf on Saturday 15 May. The course on the north west corner of Tenerife has all the qualities that make rural tourism such a popular growth area, from the tall majestic Teno mountain range to the powerful waves that crash onto the rocky shore.

Nearly 170 players were waiting to test themselves against the course, and to warm up ready for the other 6 events to come in this years tour organised by the Associacion Campos de Golf de Tenerife. There was no shortage of sponsors, led by www.canarias.com and the following generous backers.

Tenerife Ladies Open Looks West To Buenavista Golf

Make a date in your diary, Tenerife Ladies Open 2010 will take centre stage from 1st to 4th July at the Buenavista Golf course on the north west of Tenerife.

The European Tour event grows in stature every year and this time will boast 275,000 euros in prize money. The field will again include the best players around and a clutch of former winners and runners up. Last year at Golf Costa Adeje it all went down to the final hole as Becky Brewerton from Wales eventually had to give second best to Birmingham’s Felicity Johnson.

Five holes hug the wild and rugged coast of the Buenavista course and the Teno mountain range in the background will add to the wow factor as television viewers tune in all around the world. Tenerife can always offer something special for summer and this year golf fans will get to enjoy a different side to the islands charms.

Proud days at Maria Garcia Estrada Memorial Tournament

For the record, Spanish professional golfer Pablo Larrazabal led the winning quartet in the 2010 Maria Garcia Estrada Memorial Pro Am tournament at Abama Golf, but there were so many winners as 134,000 euros was raised for the Maria Garcia Estrada Foundation.

This was the third running of the event to commemorate the life of Santa Cruz born Maria, who died of cancer in September 2005 at the age of 24. Top names from Spanish golf descended on Guia de Isora for the 2 day competition on 8th and 9th January as good company, good golf and a good cause all came together.

WINNERS
The winning team was led by Pablo Larrazabal and included Anton Brufau, Jose Carceller, and Demetrio Carceller. They finished on 51 shots, 4 better than the runners up, led by professional Eduardo de la Riva, Carmen Alonso, Jose Rodriquez, Gonzalo Fernadez-Castaño, and Carlos Rodiles, who all tied on 55 strokes.

Among the visiting players was Joan Laporta, President of Barcelona football club, he arrived a few days before his team were due to play CD Tenerife in Santa Cruz. He thoroughly enjoyed the competition and took the opportunity to get to know the family and friends of Maria Garcia Estrada, and learnt more about the work the foundation has been doing.

BIDDING FOR GLORY
The grand total of 134,000 euros raised, included 18,830 euros from a star studded auction held before the event. On offer were football shirts donated by Christian Ronaldo and Leo Messi, but the big money went on a signed Sergio Garcia golf bag 3,000 euros and a staggering 4,500 euros for the tennis shoes worn by Rafa Nadal in Spains recent Davis Cup triumph.

A big thanks must go to the main sponsors, Tenerife Tourism and Abama Golf Resort, as well as everyone who supported the event.
