Golf Costa Adeje to welcome the Tenerife Ladies

April 29, 2008

Ladies golf is making massive strides on the World stage and here in Tenerife, it is appreciated and nurtured on the top courses. The 2008 Tenerife Ladies Open tournament is returning to Golf Costa Adeje to offer a mid summer treat of top action from June 19 to 22. Last year, the championship took place at Golf Del Sur and Australian Nikki Garrett fought her way through a tough line up to emerge as the winner, and she will be keen to retain her title at the course that last staged the event in 2005. Sponsors and spectators have learned that the Ladies game is full of skill and dedication and with a good sprinkling of home grown talent, to play against the best in the world, it will once again be a top draw at the course and through television coverage. The natural beauty of the course, as it slopes down to the sea, and looks across to La Gomera, makes it a big favourite in an area where many people are investing in luxury property. Actual Properties can provide the luxury 2 bed villas of Oasis del Duque for instance with their special touches like marble floors, swimming pool and garage. Of course the added advantage of being close to a top quality golf course will mean your property is always in demand, especially with such high profile tournaments taking place.

One weekend, two tournaments, at Amarilla Golf

April 18, 2008

What could be better, a choice of two golf tournaments, both with prizes, at the visually stunning Amarilla Golf course just 10 minutes from Reina Sofia south airport and 15 minutes from Los Cristianos. On Friday May 2, it’s the 3rd annual pitch and putt championship and on Saturday May 3, it’s the 10th Amarilla Golf challenge. The action starts on Friday with the pitch and putt, and there are two trophies up for grabs, included in the 16 euro entrance fee. Then on Saturday, it hots up with the full 18 hole challenge, played to the stableford shotgun start format. This event always attracts a big field, so will be split into four categories, three for the men and one for the women, and includes a beat the pro competition and cocktails to launch the event. It’s a great chance to play on this well placed modern course that includes an amazing par three hole near the cliffs, where you have to play your shot over the sea as it cuts into the course. Amarilla Golf is a very popular resort, partly due to it’s handy position, and partly due to it’s natural beauty and serenity. No wonder it is such a well sought after investment property area with great attractions like Island Golf Villas and Palm Gardens, both available from Actual Properties.

To sign up for either or both of these tournaments, just get along to Amarilla Golf on May 1 and line up a weekend of top golf action.

Golf can drive Tenerife tourism

April 15, 2008

How important is golf to the Tenerife tourism industry? Very, it has been for many years and has the potential to help the island rise out of the tourism bunker it’s in. One man who is well qualified to judge the impact of golf in Tenerife is Paul de Sterck, Director of Golf Costa Adeje, who spoke to the Diario de Avisos newspaper this week.

Looking back on 2007, Paul revealed that 320,000 green fees had been booked in Tenerife over the eight main courses and golf had brought in upward of 23 million euros for the year.

Paul also touched on how the profile of golf in Tenerife hasĀ  grown in recent years, thanks to high profile tournaments like the 1999 BMW World final, the 2003 Spanish Open, and the 2005 Tenerife Ladies Open, all televised events that had knock on effects after the events. The scenic qualities of the island courses can’t help but give a boost to island tourism.

As far as spending goes, the average family daily spend while on holiday in Tenerife is 140 euros but for golf tourists, that rises dramatically to 410 euros daily. There is clearly a lot more marketing to be done, but Tenerife is firmly on the map as a major golf holiday destination.

Spoil yourself with Spring Hotels and Golf del Sur

April 11, 2008

There’s only one thing better than a day of golf action, and that’s a whole weekend, and that is just what you can look forward to in the Golf Spring Hotels tournament on May 31 and June 1 at the Golf del Sur course.

The weekend includes a two night stay at the Arona Gran hotel in Los Cristianos, entry to the Sunday competition and green fees for a solid days practice on Saturday, and of course transport between the hotel and the delightful Golf del Sur course which rolls down to the cliffside amid some of the best natural scenery in Tenerife.

Golf del Sur is a very popular resort arranged in a horse shoe shape around the course. Although just a 15 minute drive from the south airport to the east and a similar distance to Los Cristianos to the west, it is noted for its serenity and luxury. Actual Properties have a range of outstanding investment properties in Golf del Sur such as villas with large gardens and terraces in Alamos Park, and exsclusive 4 bedroom villas in Island Golf Villas at the nearby Amarilla Golf.

The tournament will be played along the Stableford rules and prizes will greet the winners in several categories. The whole weekend is a mere 202 euros per person and more details can be found at the website www.springhotels.com Happy driving.
