No Tiger, but Tenerife Lions prowl Golf Los Palos

January 24, 2008

It was the first big golf event of 2008 for Tenerife Sur Lions as they took to the 9 hole course of Golf Los Palos in Las Galletas on Sunday January 15. A good turn out of 36 players made it a very competitive contest as they chased silverware in several categories.

Steve D’rane had his eye in and hit a hole in one at the 8th pin while at the other end there was a tie for the booby prize with D.Pearce and P.Bailey sharing the dubious honour. The ladies showed they were not just making up the numbers and Lorna Campbell Smith took their nearest the pun prize with Duncan Wallace taking the mens version.

The overall pairs competition was headed by K.Stimpson and A.Holly with B.Welsh and C.Midgeley runners up and L.Zerbo and E.Lovelock finishing third. As always though it was a good chance to raise more funds for the Lions worthy causes and to enjoy the small but excellently prepared course just next to the popular luxury resort of Palm Mar.

Packing them in at Golf del Sur

Golf del Sur

For a golfer, there’s nothing better than combining a relaxing sun filled holiday with some top golf action, and it’s this combination that has made Golf del Sur such a popular resort. Gema Hotels, who have been in Puerto de la Cruz for 40 years, already have a 4 star hotel on the Golf del Sur but have now opened a new block of apartments for holiday visitors.

The Aquamarina has 160 apartments and an all purpose hall that will hold 300 people for live events. The 3 key rated apartments cal also share the facillities of the nearby Gemma hotel, giving them the best of all worlds.

The new apartments will help to meet the ever growing demand for holiday accomodation on Golf del Sur, and once visitors have sampled the views, the relaxed setting and great golf facilities of the area, they soon realise that this is a perfect area to invest in property. Villas are very popular here such as Alamos Park, a low level, high standard development with pools and spacious living areas.

2008 looks like being a good year for Tenerife and a perfect time to think about making the big move to sun, sea, sand and superb golf.
