A hole lot of golf for Tenerife charity
December 22, 2007
If you make just one new years resolution, make it a determination not to neglect your golf game. So how about starting 2008 with a Pro Am charity event at Abama Golf up on the west coast.
On Saturday January 12, the second annual Maria Garcia Estrada Foundation tournament takes place on this luxurious course. The first event in April 2006 raised 117,000 euros and the 2008 version should be even better. Tenerife born Maria died of cancer in September 2005, and her many golfing friends stafe this event in her memory and to raise funds to fight the illness.
It will take place under scramble rules with 40 teams of one professional joined by 3 amateurs, each paying 400 euros to partner a professional player. The organisers have lined up some top pros from the men and womens game in Tenerife and mainland Spain, including Candy Hanneman, Luis Claverie and Sergio Garcia.
You might as well start your year in style and Abama has plenty of that, the day before non players can make their contributuin by attending a benefit dinner at 150 euros per head, check the website www.mariagarciaestrada.com for more details. There is bound to be a big response so make sure you book your place by January 4.
